Summary 

The help takes place in Jackson Mississippi, in the 1960's. In the 1960's black people weren't treated properly, the blacks worked for the whites, if you were a black women you were a maid and if you were a man you worked out in the gardens. Skeeter was a young white women who wasn't like other people, she wasnt against the black. Instead of going against them like everyone eles did she wanted to here from them. Skeeter want's to become a famous writter one day, so she decides to here the storys of the black women and there lifes and try to publish it. When skeeter first announces  this to the black women they were totally against it. They didn't want anything to do with it because they could get in serious trouble, everyone was against it but Aibileen. Aibileen was a middle aged black maid, she was willing to share her storys from her life as a black women as long as Skeeter didn't tell anyone it was her telling these storys. After awhile of Aibileen sharing Skeeter her story, Skeeter trys to publish it to an editor, but its not aproved. The editor says in order for it to be published she would simply need more storys from black women, not just one. Skeeter trys to convinve more black women to do this, but they dont agree, untill an incident happens. After this incident, all the black women in Aibleen neighbourhood (close friends) meet up at Aibileen's house and decide to help Skeeter with her book by telling her there storys but keeping there names anonymous. After skeeter finshes the book she gives it to the editor and it gets published, the book becomes one of the most popular book in Jackson Mississippi. Skeeter ends up getting a job offer in New york but decides not to take it, Aibileen and her friend Minny another black maid that helped with the book are confussed why she wouldnt take it, they insist she dose but she tells them that she dosnt want to leave them. They tell her that theres nothing special in Mississippi and to go achieve her dreams. Skeeter thinks about the job offer and ends up taking it,  life in Jackson Missisippi stays the same and there was still people against the blacks but Skeeter made a difference in those black womens lives by showing them she cares and not everyone white person is like that.
